1 people found this review helpful The Naniwa SS 5K stone is a soft, slow stone that is able to put on a mirror polish that belies it's grit rating. I can easily set a bevel, repair damage and shape a knife with most 1k stones, this stone however is a bit too fine for that I think. The Naniwa Super Stone series is now called the "Sharpening Stone" series for some reason. The Naniwa Super Stones are some of the finest synthetic hones available on the market IMHO. Naniwa says they improved them by tightly controlling the grit sizes for more consistent and accurate cutting.
